Editor review
In this article we will go over some facts about AVG Free Edition 7.5 and whether or not it is living up to its name and reputation. First thing to consider is the fact that it is free. Now don’t get me wrong not everything for free is a good thing, however in this case it is. The free version of AVG Free Edition 7.5 is intended for single home computer use, and not for businesses or any other organization. The free version has plenty of features to keep your computer running the way it was meant too.
Pros
The first pro has already been mentioned… free. Another Pro is the simple installation process and initial setup. When you first open the program you will notice a three main buttons. These buttons help you to choose the most common of task, such as Scan your computer, specifying where you want to scan, and checking for updates. Now I know there are programs out there that check and install there own updates, however if you have been in a hurry or in the middle of doing something and your anti-virus starts to update, then it becomes a major pain. Also for the dial up users out there like myself, the updates are the only thing you can do when it is going on. Otherwise you ended up slowing everything down to a snails pace.
Cons
The main Con I can think of is the file download size, 17.4 MB’s, and let me tell you that is a lot of space and time. Thankfully though this download contains everything you need to get started. Yes you will have to update AVG, but seriously unless they changed the download at least once a day then you would have to update anyways. One more Con is that it is intended for one home PC and not multiple PC’s, however do not fear you can upgrade to the professional if you want to.Review and rating I have to give AVG Free at least a 9 out of ten. I am writing this article and the AVG test center is currently scanning my computer as I type. Something else for those of us that have a hard enough time remembering to do things that are not PC related, you can schedule AVG to check for updates on a daily basis at a certain time. So don’t worry AVG can easily be setup to work around your schedule. Follow the link and free download AVG Free Edition now.
